Jones vs Belfort

I am glad UFC 151 got canceled.  This card actually looks good after the Jones vs Belfort got added to it.  Can't wait for Belfort to try his luck with getting the light heavy weight belt from Jon Jones.  The things he has going for him are his experience, heavy hands speed and the inside information from Rashad Evans from training with the Blackzilians team.  Michael Bisping and Brian Stann fight also probably will be exciting considering Bisping is a good kickboxer and Stann has some serious knockout power if he can land.

One FC 5: Pride of a Nation and Edgar vs Aldo

Don't miss One FC 5 tonight featuring Arlovski vs Sylvia and Jens Pulver vs Eric Kelly, also Bibiano Fernandes vs Gustavo Galciroli and finally Edward Folayang vs Felipe Enomoto!

In other news, out of nowhere, Erik Koch got injured, so instead we will get Frankie Edgar to fight Jose Aldo instead!  I don't think anyone will be complaining about this switch.  UFC 153 in Brazil is looking really good.  There will be Story vs Maia, Davis vs Prado, Silva vs Fitch, Rampage vs Glover Teixeira and of course the main event Edgar vs Aldo!  The Brazilian crowd gets a real treat!

Machida and Shogun turn down Jones, Vitor Belfort to fight Jon Jones

Last few days have been crazy in terms of who is supposed to fight Jon Jones.  First Jones turned down Chael Sonnen and UFC reported Machida was fighting Jones on September 22.  I even saw the new poster for the event.  I woke up this morning and saw the online MMA community talking about Jones fighting Belfort.  Apparently Shogun and Machida refused to fight the champion on a short notice, so they asked old school Belfort, who immediately agreed.  I like this match up even though it might be a tough uphill battle for Belfort.  With amazing talent in his hands and newly acquired Karate style, Belfort might actually pull an upset.  Jones will probaby be favored to win, but better to see a new face try their luck against Jones.

Below is MMA Digest on the news:

Almost Breaking News: Is Dan Henderson Injured?

A little over week before a very anticipated fight between legend killer Dan Henderson and Jon Jones, it appears that Henderson might be injured.  MMA writer Jeremy Botter and UFC fighter turned fight analyst, Kenny Florian tweeted:

If what I'm hearing is correct, UFC 151 may be in desperate need of a main event. And that sucks.

Hearing that we may have some disappointed @ufc fans soon due to some unfortunate circumstances for an upcoming card
Dangerous Dan tweeted back, but let's see what the UFC announces anytime soon.
Just got done with a great training session with the boys.@CyrilleDiabate @tarecfighter @heathlsims @RFBJJ@rockholdMMA

Indian Verson of UFC's TUF Reality Show: "Challengers"

This should be great to raise awareness about MMA in India and give the fighters some money and opportunity.  24 Lakhs is no joke plus a contract with Super Fight league for the winner!  Good work Sanjay Dutt and Raj Kundra.

Machida vs Bader

This is Machida's first after a courageous, but disappointing loss to the young Jon Jones.  Despite a superb game plan and a good first round, Jones landed a punch and took Machida down and cut him with the notorious Jones elbow.  That was the beginning of the end for Machida on that fight, losing by submission to the new champ.

However, against a guy like Bader, I expect Machida to show his evasiveness and counter attacks.  Machida's sumo background and his brilliant footwork will nullify the takedowns of Bader and the powerful right hand.  I am expecting a unanimous decision win or a TKO for Machida on this fight.

Dan Henderson talks about his fight with Jon Jones

Maybe Dan will be the only one to close the gap and land some haymakers on the unstoppable young champion, Jonny 'Bones' Jones.  Dan has definitely looked good in the last few fights, especially, knocking out Babalu, Rafael Feijao, and Fedor is no joke.  He has been able to land his legendary right hand in all those wins.  He landed a good right hand in his fight with Shogun Rua, which would have knocked out any mortal.  However, somehow, Shogun survived the H-bomb and came back and fought Dan till the end.  Lets see if Dan can do better than Machida and Rashad Evans..

Can Chris Weidman do what Chael Sonnen could not?

Silva haters got excited about a possibility of a stronger wrestler like Sonnen dethroning the dominant champ.    Unfortunately, two fights and much hype later at UFC 148, Sonnen broke and Silva still reigns as the middleweight champion.

After an impressive victory over a top ten contender, Mark Munoz, is Chris Weidman the man who might possibly give Silva the first defeat inside the Octagon?  His performance against Demian Maia was not that great, but against Munoz it was much more impressive.  Maybe he should fight Bisping or winner of Lombard and Boetsch first.  Let's see what the matchmaker, Joe Silva does.

Below is the highlight of the fight between Munoz and Weidman:

Redemption for the Greatest Fighter of our Generation

If you are a MMA fan, you probably watched this fight and jumped up and down during the fight.  I read that there was a Brazilian fan in attendance, who jumped up and down around 300 times when Silva walked in.  It was a great night, showcasing the undeniable takedown of Chael Sonnen and the amazing adjustments the Champion, Silva made to win the second fight in spectacular fashion!   I was watching at home alone with all my kids already in bed on my computer. When the flying knee landed on Sonnen's chest and he assumed the almost fetal position, I jumped like the Brazilian fan!  Fortunately,  none of the kids woke up.  If you did not watch this fight, you surely missed an opportunity to witness greatness in action!  Please watch the replay!

Anderson Goes off on Sonnen

According to bjpenn.com, during the UFC 148 media calls today, Anderson Silva abandoned the high road and unleashed some fury.  Below is the complete threat from the spider before he fights Sonnen on July 7th:

Can't wait for this fight.

Chael is a criminal, he is a criminal. He has been convicted of crimes and he doesn’t deserve to be inside the Octagon. When the time is right, I am going to break his face and every one of his teeth in his mouth. Playtime is over, the jokes are over. I am going to beat his ass out of the UFC. He is never going to want to fight again after I am done with him. It doesn’t matter if I am on bottom, side or top. Chael is going to get his ass kicked like never before. What I do inside the Octagon is going to change the image of the sport. I am going to make sure his legs are broke and arms are broke he will not be able to walk out by himself. I know he is listening; no more shit talking, it is on now. I’m going to make him pay and make him eat everything he said about myself and my country. I’m going to make sure he does not disrespect any other fighter. I’m going to beat him like his parents should have beat him to have manners. He can say whatever he wants, but I am not playing anymore. It will be the same like the first fight. He walked out the loser and this time he is going to walk out the loser. The only difference is that this time he is going to have to visit a plastic surgeon after the fight.”

Can't wait for this fight.

Fedor vs Pedro Rizzo

Check this recent fight out.  Fedor blitzed Rizzo with his right hand bombs that put most people away. Can Dana please put him back on Zuffa roster?

Glover Teixeira: Could he dethrone Jon Jones?

This guy has win over Ricco Rodriguez, Marvin Eastman, Sokodjou and recently beat Kyle Kingsbury in his UFC debut.  He is currently training with former champion Chuck Liddell and his camp.  Shogun, recently refused to fight him according to Dana White even at the expense of being cut by UFC.  The new face from Brazil looks promising and has legit submission experience as well as heavy hands.  Will he be the one to beat Jones if Dan Henderson is not able to land his H-bomb?

Hector Lombard makes his UFC debut in August

Hector Lombard has ruled the Bellator middleweight division like Anderson Silva has ruled the UFC middleweight division.  If he is able to defeat the always dangerous striker, Brian Stann, then he might actually get the title shot.  It's about time there was someone in that division to challenge Anderson other than the really annoying self proclaimed gangster from West Linn, Oregon aka Chael P. Sonnen.  See the footage below to see just how good Lombard is.  He is an olympic level judoka and has knockout power as well.

Breaking News: Silva vs Sonnen Moving to Las Vegas to UFC 148

Silva vs Sonnen will be moving to July 7th in Las Vegas due to technical problems with the timing of UFC 147, which was planned to happen in Brazil.  United Nations gathering on the same weekend caused logistics problems for the event, mainly availability of hotel rooms and city officials feeling pressured about having the UFC event same weekend as the United Nations event.  Can’t wait!
